The Disco Biscuits are bringing their New Year’s Run back to New York City. The band will end 2019 by performing at the PlayStation Theater December 27 – 28 and 30 – 31. The concerts will be the final shows held at the venue, which opened in 2005 and has undergone a few name changes since.
“We’ve got so much to tell you guys in the next couple of weeks, wanted to start with a classic. A New Year. A new beginning. A new life,” said keyboardist Aron Magner in a statement. “Couldn’t think of a better way to look towards the future than by saying goodbye to the past. Our 40th show at a venue that, just like all of us, has changed so many times through the years. We’ve shared so many incredible memories as a community there, here’s to one last hurrah before the venue closes for good. The Biscuits are coming home!”
Last year, the livetronica quartet brought 2018 to a close in their hometown of Philadelphia. Previous New Year’s Runs dating back to 2011, with the exception of 2016, were held in New York City. The announcement comes a week after the band issued a note penned by guitarist Jon Gutwillig indicating the Biscuits aimed to put the focus back on the group after years of light touring.
The concert on Friday, December 27 has a start time at 9 p.m., while the other three shows are late night affairs. Tickets go on sale this Friday, August 23 at 10 a.m. ET via AXS.com.
