Eggy guitarist Jake Brownstein made an extensive guest appearance with The Disco Biscuits on Friday in Westport, Connecticut. The sit-in happened during the first set of Bisco’s two-night run at the Levitt Pavilion.

The Disco Biscuits dropped into “Three Wishes” to start the show, which was followed by “House Dog Party Favor.” An unfinished “Voices Insane” came next and then segued into “Freeze.” Bisco bassist Marc Brownstein addressed the audience while playing “Freeze.”

“I want to clear something up for the people,” Brownie said. “And bring up a special guest right now. He’s not my child or my father or my cousin or anything like that. There’s no relation, but Jake Brownstein from Eggy we’d like to bring you up right now and do this jam with us.”

“He’s like a father to me, that much is true,” Brownie jokingly added.

Jake Brownstein and Marc Brownstein have performed together under the coyly named Brownstein Family Band moniker with Marc’s son Zach Brownstein on drums and Jake’s Eggy bandmate, Dani Battat, on keyboards.

The double-Brownstein attack began with the guest guitarist coming on to augment the previously started “Freeze.” Brownstein, Brownstein, Bisco guitarist Jon Gutwillig, keyboardist Aron Magner and drummer Marlon Lewis moved from the “Freeze” jam into an inverted route through “Portal To An Empty Head.”

The bonus guitar segment – and the first set – came to a close with the ending of “Home Again.”

The second half got underway with the completion of “Save The Robots,” after it went unfinished at a recent show. The seamless set progressed with “We Like to Party” followed by “Astronaut” and “The Wormhole” before returning to “We Like To Party.”

The longtime setlist staple” M.E.M.P.H.I.S.” made an appearance as the lone encore selection. The full concert was livestreamed via nugs, see a preview below.
