Tedeschi Trucks Band frontman and frontwoman Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi appeared on NPR’s Morning Edition. Susan and Derek discussed how they met, the origins of the TTB and the group’s new album, Signs, which came out on Fantasy Records last month. The husband-and-wife duo also performed three songs for the program.
Another topic discussed was the show they played after the election in 2016. The TTB opened with George Harrison’s “Isn’t It A Pity” and talked about the reaction to the song choice. Derek recalled Col. Bruce Hampton, who has since passed at a concert in which Tedeschi and Trucks performed, told them, “Well, music’s important again.” As for the performances, Derek and Susan first played Howlin’ Wolf’s “Meet Me In The Bottom.” The pair then showcased a pair of tracks from Signs: its lead single “Hard Case” and the emotional “When Will I Begin.” Listen to all three songs as well as the interview with Morning Edition host Steve Inskeep below:
