Dead & Company Guitar Charity Auction Raises $300K For HeadCount, REVERB & Others

Dead & Company guitiarist Bob Weir’s stage-used, one-of-a-kind custom D’Angelico guitar designed by AJ Masthay was sold at a charity auction for $300K. Proceeds from its sale will go to voter-registration non-profit HeadCount, environmental organization REVERB, and other charities chosen by Dead & Co.

Bids on the D’Angelico guitar were accepted throughout Dead & Co.’s summer tour. Fans could place bids both at the Participation Row activism village and at Loose Lucy’s VIP lounge. Weir could be seen playing the D’Angelico Ocean Turquoise Premier SS Guitar over the course of the recently completed tour, including during “U.S. Blues” at Shoreline, “Ramble on Rose” at Wrigley Field and “Tennesee Jed” at the tour’s final stop at Citi Field.

Also auctioned off were Dead & Co. and HeadCount custom D’Angelico city-specific guitars. Inspired by Masthay’s 2019 “Seasons” collection and commemorating the tour’s two-night stands, the limited edition guitars were “made exclusively for HeadCount with “VOTE” on the fretboard and HeadCount’s logo on the headstock.”

Dead & Co.’s summer-long charity auction generated a total of $658,600 as fans took home posters, guitars, drumheads and more. In addition to the $300K “Tour Guitar,” the “NYC Guitar” was sold for a winning bid of $75K.
