“I’m coming to the Albert Hall in early October this year, to play my favorite venue, certainly my favorite venue in England,” Gilmour said in an announcement video. “It always has such a wonderful atmosphere, beautiful place. It sounds great, too.” The shows are expected to be Gilmour’s only UK dates.

David Gilmour recently confirmed he would tour in support of Luck and Strange, his first new solo album in nine years, during an interview with Uncut. He told the magazine he had “an unwillingness to revisit the Pink Floyd of the ’70s,” in what seemed like a rebuke of old bandmate Roger Waters. However, the announcement video includes footage of Gilmour performing “Comfortably Numb.”

Gilmour did say he’s open to performing at least one song from the ’60s as well as material from the ’80s and ’90s. “There’s songs from the Momentary Lapse Of Reason and The Division Bell albums. I mean, I think ‘High Hopes’ is as good as anything we ever did at any time,” the guitarist told Uncut.

David Gilmour also spoke about changing up the members of his backing band. “Yeah, I changed the band around last time for a number of reasons, one of which was it was all too robotic, and some people would have been better off in a Pink Floyd tribute band,” Gilmour explained. “So I thought we’d get people who are genuinely creative and give them a little more space. That’s the plan. So we*re going to have some of the younger guys alongside [bassist] Guy [Pratt] and the Webb Sisters, who sang with Leonard Cohen on his last tours.”

Luck And Strange is due out on September 6 via Sony Music. David Gilmour previewed the nine-track follow-up to 2015’s Rattle That Luck by sharing its lead single, “The Piper’s Call” and an accompanying music video. The forthcoming LP features a posthumous contribution from Gilmour’s late Pink Floyd bandmate Richard Wright. David Gilmour produced Luck And Strange with Charlie Andrew.
