Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds Kick Off Dave & Tim Riviera Maya Destination Event

Dave Matthews Band guitarists Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds began the inaugural Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds Riviera Maya destination event at the Barceló Maya Beach Resort in Mexico on Thursday night. Matthews and Reynolds presented a 22-song performance on the beach, their first of three concerts the guitarists will play as part of the event.

The Duo opened the set with “So Damn Lucky” from Matthews’ Some Devil studio album. A pair of DMB classics followed, namely “One Sweet World” and “Satellite” ahead of “Save Me” off Some Devil. “Crush” came next along with the more recent “Samurai Cop” and golden oldies “Minarets” and “The Stone.” Dave then vacated the stage for a Tim Reynolds solo performance of “A Tangled Web We Weave.”

Matthews moved over to piano for “Virginia In The Rain” and then took an opportunity to thank his fans for making the trip to Mexico. “I’m very lucky to be able to come here and play music for y’all and play music with Tim Reynolds. I have such gracious hosts, we’re having such a nice time down here. I don’t want to leave, but that stupid fucking wall will make it easier for me to stay,” Dave said in reference to President Trump’s proposed wall. Matthews and Reynolds’ main set also included the pair’s first “Eh Hee” since November 19, 2011 and a debut cover of “Pretty Bird” by Hazel Dickens.

Dave and Tim ended their set with “Jimi Thing” and “Two Step.” The duo then returned for an encore of “What Would You Say” and “Ants Marching.” Matthews and Reynolds return to the stage in Mexico on Friday night.
