Dave Matthews Band frontman Dave Matthews performed a John Prine cover on Thursday’s The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Matthews played “Speed Of The Sound Of Loneliness” for Colbert just days after John Prine died.

Matthews recorded his debut version of “Speed Of The Sound Of Loneliness” at his home in Seattle. John Prine originally released the song on his 1986 album, German Afternoons and lent his voice to a duet with Nanci Griffith for a version found on her 1993 LP, Other Voices, Other Rooms.
