PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey hosted Dave Matthews Band on Wednesday night. DMB continued a musical friendship that spans over 15 years by bringing out pedal steel wiz Robert Randolph for a song.
Last night’s show began with “Do You Remember,” one of five songs from the recently released Come Tomorrow the group would play during their 10th performance at the New York City area shed. Dave Matthews Band then presented the tour’s third versions of “Lover Lay Down” and “Pig.” The 20-song main set also featured the second takes on “Raven,” “All Along The Watchtower” and “Time Bomb” of the summer.
Robert Randolph emerged towards the end of the set to lend a hand on the funky “Corn Bread.” Randolph first performed with DMB back on May 29, 2002 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The sacred steel specialist has made a total of 43 appearances with Matthews over the years as per DMB Almanac including a guest spot on “Jimi Thing” at DMB’s The Night Before concert on February 3, 2018.
