Dave Matthews Band Keeps Bust Out Streak Going In Oklahoma City

The Dave Matthews Band has now played five shows this month following last night’s performance at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City and have busted out a song they hadn’t performed in at least 175 shows at each one. Last night’s concert saw the return of “Break Free” for the first time since September 17, 2011 – a span of 318 shows.

Tuesday’s “Break Free” comes after the return of “Sugar Will” in Charlottesville, “Shotgun” in Wichita, “Dreamgirl” in The Woodlands and “Dive In” in Dallas. “Break Free” was part of a batch of originals DMB debuted in 2006 that also included “Shotgun.” The song was played a number of times in 2006 and then disappeared before returning for three 2011 performances and then again last night.

Oklahoma City DMB fans were also treated to tour debuts of “Funny The Way It Is,” “The Best Of What’s Around” and “Ants Marching.” Once again the group interpolated Prince’s “Sexy MF” within their own “Jimi Thing” and last night’s show also featured the three originals Dave Matthews Band debuted earlier this month: “Samurai Cop,” “Bismarck” and “Bob Law.” Dave Matthews Band Summer Tour continues tonight in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
