Dave Matthews Band Opens Summer Tour In Wichita

A few days after a hometown benefit show that raised over $1.5 million for local charities, the Dave Matthews Band kicked off their lengthy Summer Tour with a performance at Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita, Kansas on Wednesday night. The big news setlist wise was the return of a beloved original for the first time in nearly three years.
DMB opened with “Satellite” and “Granny,” a pair of songs they hadn’t performed in Charlottesville. A rendition of “Warehouse” followed along with “Crash Into Me.” Next up was “Samurai Cop,” one of the originals the group debuted on Saturday night in their hometown. They would also wind up performing “Bob Law” and “Bismarck,” the other two originals unveiled in Charlottesville, later in the main set.
As they did in Charlottesville, the Dave Matthews Band played one long set and encore in Wichita instead of the two set format of the past two summer tours. Seven songs in the group dusted off “Shotgun,” a fan favorite original that hadn’t been performed since July 23, 2013. The main set also featured the recently busted out “Sugar Will” and saw the band honor Prince by tacking on a portion of “Sexy MF” to “Jimi Thing.” DMB brought the show to a close with an encore that included Dave Matthews teasing “Oh” and full band performances of “The Space Between” and “Grey Street.” The tour continues on Friday night in The Woodlands, Texas.
