Dumpstaphunk will serve as the opening act for Dave Matthews Band‘s two-night stand at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The New Orleans-based act will kick off the action before DMB takes the stage at the iconic venue on November 12 and 13.
The two bands have a long relationship and Dumpstaphunk recently opened DMB's first of three September 2021 shows at The Gorge in Washington state. Matthews and his mates performed in various configurations at The Gorge and in Bend, Oregon as bassist Stefan Lessard and drummer Carter Beauford missed all four shows after testing positive for COVID-19.
Dumpstaphunk joined the remaining DMB members for covers of Sly & The Family Stone’s “Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)” and Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer” to close out the main set at The Gorge on September 3. Additionally, Dumpstaphunk bassist Tony Hall filled in for Lessard at The Gorge and in Bend. Hall had plenty of experience performing with Matthews as he was a member of the Dave Matthews & Friends project from 2003 – 2006.
Tickets for Dave Matthews Band at MSG are sold out.
