String Cheese Incident’s Bill Nershi Joins Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country In Boulder

The String Cheese Incident’s guitarist again joined Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country onstage in Colorado. Last night’s three-song sit-in took place during Donato’s second set at the Boulder Theater.

Thursday’s concert was DDCC’s third straight performance in Boulder, following shows at the Fox Theatre on Tuesday and an opening night at Boulder Theater on Wednesday.

A longtime Colorado resident, Nershi has shared the stage with Donato multiple times, including in Denver last November. Thursday’s collaboration came early in the second set, after Donato and his bandmates — keyboardist/guitarist Nathan “Sugar Leg” Aronowitz, drummer Will “Bronco” Clark and bassist Will “Mustang” McGee — kicked things off with “Honky Tonk Blues.”

Nershi then emerged to add acoustic guitar and vocals on the bluegrass staple “High On Mountain Top.” Nershi revealed to the audience that Donato had spent the day at The String Cheese Incident’s recording facility, where he played “a couple tunes with the band.”

Nershi’s guest spot rolled on with Ramblin’ Jack Elliott’s “Railroad Bill.” The picking party wrapped with Nershi accompanying a rousing run through “Sittin’ On Top Of The World.”
