‘Lose Your Mind’ With Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country On ‘Colbert’s’ Video Series

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert continues a trend of sharing remote performances started during the pandemic with its “Late Show Me Music” video series. The latest featured artist is Daniel Donato's Cosmic Country.

Guitarist Daniel Donato and bandmates bassist Will “Mustang” McGee, keyboardist Nathan “Sugar Leg” Aronowitz and drummer Will “Bronco” Clark performed “Lose Your Mind” for their “Late Show Me Music” video. The song appears on the band’s latest studio album, 2023's Reflector.

Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country typically expands “Lose Your Mind” beyond the ten-minute mark in concert. However, the quartet stuck to a concise version for Colbert.

“Lose Your Mind” was the lead single from Reflector, Donato’s sophomore studio album and first of all original music. Donato’s twangy Telecaster is at the heart of the song, which features powerful organ blasts from Sugar Leg and the lockstep rhythm section of Bronco and Mustang staying in the pocket.
