On Friday night, host Stephen Colbert welcomed Dan Auerbach as musical guest on The Late Show. The Black Keys frontman performed a pair of songs from his forthcoming new solo album Waiting for a Song during his visit to the Ed Sullivan Theater.
Auerbach performed the single “Shine On Me,” which appears on his follow-up to his 2009 debut solo album Keep It Hid. Auerbach called Waiting On A Song his “love letter to Nashville,” and the multi-instrumentalist worked with the likes of John Prine, Duane Eddy, Jerry Douglas, Pat McLaughlin and Mark Knopfler on the 10-track LP coming out on June 2. Friday’s Late Show audience was also treated to a bonus performance of the recently issued single “King Of A One Horse Town.”
