‘Creedence Clearwater Revival At The Royal Albert Hall’ Live Album Set For Release
Preview the previously unreleased recording with the CCR classic "Bad Moon Rising."
A never-before-released 1970 Creedence Clearwater Revival recording from London’s famed Royal Albert Hall is due out on September 16 via Craft Recordings. Craft released the CCR classic “Bad Moon Rising” to preview the live album Creedence Clearwater Revival At The Royal Albert Hall.
Credence Clearwater Revival — frontman, guitarist and primary songwriter John Fogerty, guitarist Tom Fogerty, bassist Stu Cook and drummer Doug Clifford — took the stage at Royal Albert Hall on April 14, 1970 as part of a two-night stand at the legendary venue and performed some of their most iconic songs including opener “Born On The Bayou” as well as “Fortunate Son,” “Proud Mary,” the aforementioned “Bad Moon Rising” and more. The recording from that evening was long thought lost.
Sitting in storage for 50 years, the original multitrack tapes were recently discovered and put into the hands of the Grammy-winning team of producer Giles Martin — the son of legendary Beatles producer George Martin — and engineer Sam Okell. Engineer Miles Showell mastered the record at Abbey Road Studios.
Creedence Clearwater Revival At The Royal Albert Hall will also arrive with a documentary, Travelin’ Band: Creedence Clearwater Revival at the Royal Albert Hall. The doc traces the group’s early days in the Bay Area’s El Cerrito, California as well as their meteoric rise — clocking numerous No. 1 singles and albums in a short time — culminating with their concert at Royal Albert Hall in 1970 at the height of their powers. Grammy-winning director Bob Smeaton (The Beatles Anthology and Jimi Hendrix Band of Gypsies) helmed Travelin’ Band which is narrated by renowned actor Jeff Bridges.
Both the live album and documentary arrive on September 16. A super deluxe box set edition containing Creedence Clearwater Revival At The Royal Albert Hall along with the Travelin’ Band doc and more is due out on November 14.
