The History Channel will air a miniseries, Texas Rising, next month. Starring in the five-part look at the rise of the Texas Rangers in the aftermath of the fall of the Alamo is actor/musician Kris Kristofferson who plays the role of former president Andrew Jackson. A new trailer for the miniseries features Kristofferson recording a cover of Tom Petty’s “Won’t Back Down.”
The stark performance in the trailer showing Kristofferson in the studio recording the cover is interspersed with clips from the program that also includes appearances by Bill Paxton, Brendan Fraser and Ray Liotta. The 10-hour miniseries premieres May 25 at 9 p.m.
