Monday marked the 40th anniversary of a legendary Grateful Dead concert that took place at Barton Hall on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. The occasion was celebrated a number of ways including a special performance on the campus of Cornell.
The Cornell Chimemasters put together a 30-minute set that featured a handful of Grateful Dead songs as well as a trio of classic rock tunes. Up first was “Touch Of Grey” followed by “They Love Each Other” and The Beatles’ “Hey Jude.” The performance continued on with Grateful Dead classics “Playing In The Band” and “Ripple.” From there, the concert concluded with the Cornell Chimes banging out “Blackbird” by The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel’s “Sound Of Silence” and the Dead’s “Uncle John’s Band.”
