Clipse returned to Virginia Beach, Virginia for a two-night stand in their hometown this past weekend. Saturday’s show at The Dome saw brothers Pusha T and Malice welcoming fellow Virginia Beach native and longtime collaborator Pharrell Williams, who delivered a solo section of hits from his catalog and joined the duo for Clipse classics.

While born in New York City, Gene “Malice” and Terrence “Pusha T” Thornton moved to Virginia Beach with their parents at an early age. As they got into music in the 1990s, the brothers teamed with Pharrell Williams who helped them ink major record deals. Their collaborations have continued into Clipse’s most recent and acclaimed album, Let God Sort Em Out, which Williams produced.

Clipse kicked off their concert in VB on Saturday with Sort Em Out cut, “Chains & Whips.” The duo also welcomed another longtime collaborator, Ab-Liva, on their new record’s “Inglorious Bastards.” Pharrell emerged about halfway through the duo’s set for a collaboration on “Mr. Me Too,” appearing on Clipse’s 2006 LP, Hell Hath No Fury.

Williams then gave the brothers a breather, taking over the stage for a pair of solo performances. Pharrell began the sans Clipse segment with his 2006 single “That Girl,” which featured Snoop Dogg. Williams then turned to another Snoop collab, a crowd-pleasing rendition of 2004’s “Drop It Like It’s Hot.”

Pusha T and Malice then rejoined Pharrell for the Clipse classic, “Grindin,” off their 2002 debut album, Lord Willin. Clipse filled the rest of the concert with Sort Em Out favorites such as “Ace Trumpets” and “The Birds Don’t Sing” as well as another guest spot from Ab-Liva on the Hot Damn version of “Cot Damn.” The concert came to a close with a fitting rendition of “Virginia” before the duo sealed the show with “So Far Ahead.”
