Circles Around The Sun stopped by KEXP Studios back on October 13 (Friday the 13th) to record a Live on KEXP session. CATS offered a career-spanning set for the Seattle independent radio station’s video series.
Circles Around The Sun — bassist Dan Horne, guitarist John Lee Shannon, keyboardist Adam McDougall and drummer Mark Levy — kicked off their KEXP session with “Away Team,” off their April 2023 album, Language. The record’s “Outer Boroughs” came next.

CATS then turned to a track, “Landline Memories”, from their 2021 self-titled album, the last to feature recordings from founding guitarist Neal Casal who sadly died in 2019. The quartet continued to dip into Neal Casal-era material with “Saturday’s Children” from the band’s debut album, Interludes For The Dead, comprised of setbreak music created for the Grateful Dead’s Fare Thee Well concerts in 2015.
CATS paired “Saturday’s Children” with “Tacoma Narrows” from the 2018 album, Let It Wander, to wrap the session. Watch Circles Around The Sun perform Live on KEXP below:
