Chris Robinson was a featured guest on the latest installment of Jimmy Kimmel Live. The Black Crowes frontman sat for an interview with the host and closed out the episode by performing an Otis Redding classic.

Robinson was joined by Lake Street Dive vocalist Rachael Price and the program’s house band, The Cletones, for a righteous version of Redding’s “Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa (Sad Song).” The tune was a fine choice for Robinson considering The Black Crowes were launched to superstardom by their cover of another Redding gem, “Hard To Handle.”

While The Black Crowes have yet to cover “Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa (Sad Song),” Robinson performed the track at the 2014 Bear Creek Music Festival during his Chris Robinson’s Soulive Revue set. Rachael Price harmonized with Robinson on the chorus of “Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa (Sad Song)” for the Kimmel performance.

The Black Crowes are among the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2026 nominees. Chris Robinson previously told Howard Stern in 2017 he wouldn’t attend the ceremony if the band was inducted into the institution. Robinson changed his tune when asked about the quote.

“I have a much more positive outlook these days,” Robinson said of the Crowes’ second nomination in the past two years. “Things definitely changed,” he added. “I wasn’t in the Black Crowes at that time I made that salacious comment. But it is true, the Black Crowes were kind of more famous, my brother and I, for hating each other than the songs and the music. It worked for Oasis. I don’t know why it didn’t work for us.”

Chris Robinson explained reuniting with his brother, Rich Robinson, has been “the most thrilling and gratifying [experience].” The Black Crowes recently released their new album, A Pound Of Feathers, the follow-up to the band’s Grammy-nominated 2024 LP Happiness Bastards. Robinson discussed some of the lyrics from the album, fights he had with Rich, his resume and several other topics.
