Chris Robinson Brotherhood Shares ‘Lazy Days’ Off Record Store Day Live Release

By Scott Bernstein Apr 13, 2018 1:50 pm PDT

Next Saturday, April 21, the Chris Robinson Brotherhood will issue a four-LP set entitled Raven’s Reels, Vol. 1 in honor of Record Store Day. The compilation features an official recording of the band’s performance at the Bijou Theater in Knoxville, Tennessee on September 24, 2017. A track off Raven’s Reels, Vol. 1 recently premiered via Ultimate Classic Rock.

Frontman Chris Robinson explained to UCR that Raven’s Reels will be a series of live recordings in addition to the Betty’s Blends series prepped by Betty Canton-Jackson of Grateful Dead fame. The band tapped engineer Chris “The Raven” Albers to produce this new project. “He’s been with us since our first show in Los Angeles, which was seven years ago,” the CRB frontman said of Albers. “He started as our merch guy and then he moved to recording, and he even did some stuff with the Black Crowes. So, yeah, we’re really proud of his recordings as well. He has a different ‘thing’ than Betty, so to have the opportunity to do Raven’s Reels is awesome. What we do with Betty’s Blends, it has its own thing, it’s almost like a regular release as opposed to something that’s special or limited. What Chris is doing is something different, and the whole look is different, from the artwork to the vibes.”

The Chris Robinson Brotherhood opened with a cover of Gram Parson’s “Lazy Days” at the show featured on Raven’s Reels, Vol. 1. Listen to “Lazy Days” from the CRB’s Raven’s Reels, Vol. 1:

Raven’s Reels, Vol. 1 will feature four LPs, a 12×12 poster book and a sticker sheet. A limited run of 1,200 copies will be available on April 21 at independent record stores across the country.
