Chris Robinson Brotherhood Honors John Lennon At Fillmore Opener
By Scott Bernstein Dec 9, 2016 • 10:27 am PST
On Thursday night Chris Robinson Brotherhood began a run of three hometown shows at The Fillmore in San Francisco. The concert came to a close with an encore that featured the debut of a Beatles cover on the anniversary of John Lennon’s death.
Chris Robinson & Co. kicked off the cover-heavy performance with a take on Hank Ballard’s “Let’s Go, Let’s Go, Let’s Go.” The group then mixed Leon Russell, Hoyt Axton, Delaney & Bonnie, Bob Dylan and Jackie Moore songs with a handful of CRB originals as well as choice tunes from Chris’s other projects. When The CRB returned to the stage, they started up a spot-on rendition of “Come Together” in honor of John Lennon. They then finished the show with their third ever cover of “Rock & Roll” by The Velvet Underground.
