Charley Crockett revealed he was denied entry when trying to cross the Canadian border. The Texas-native singer-songwriter was forced to cancel several upcoming tour dates in Canada as a result.
On Thursday (February 19), Crockett performed on the first of two shows in Seattle. He was headed to Canada to begin a run of concerts across the country, starting in Vancouver on Saturday (February 21). The brief tour, with support from Jake Vaadeland, was slated to continue through a performance in Niagara Falls (Ontario) on March 6.
Crockett twice tried to cross the Canadian border and was denied entry on both occasions. He stated he was advised against making additional attempts to enter the country, which could “jeopardize his freedom.”
Crockett posted an image of immigration papers from the Canadian government denying his entry to the country. The document cited Crockett’s 2016 conviction related to marijuana possession.
“Everybody’s got a past,” Crockett wrote. “Mine’s still haunting me. I tried to cross the Canadian border twice in 24 hours. After they denied me entry in Vancouver, I tried again in Kelowna and was rejected a 2nd time. I’ve been advised that it would jeopardize my freedom to try and enter again. I’m deeply sorry to announce the cancellation of my entire Canadian Tour.”
Crockett went on to state that full refunds will be issued to ticket holders to the canceled Canadian shows and that he hopes to be back soon.
Crockett’s next concert will take place on March 7 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. His next studio album, Age Of The Ram, arrives on April 3.
