Bruce Hornsby reunited with Bonnie Raitt on “Ecstatic,” the latest preview of his forthcoming Indigo Park album. The record is set for release on April 3 through Zappo Productions/Thirty Tigers and will be supported with a freshly expanded tour.
Produced by Tony Berg, Will Maclellan and Bruce Hornsby, Indigo Park follows 2024’s Deep Sea Vents. The core ensemble for the LP finds Hornsby backed by his longtime band The Noisemakers along with guitarist Blake Mills, bassist Pino Palladino and drummer Chris Dave. The 10-song set features guest appearances from Raitt, Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig and late Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir.
Bonnie Raitt first teamed with Bruce Hornsby on her 1991 smash, “I Can’t Make You Love Me.” Raitt contributed backing vocals to “Ecstatic,” which was inspired by a chant he heard as an AAU basketball parent. Fittingly, Hornsby enlisted members of the LSU Tigers Women’s Basketball Team to star in the “Ecstatic” music video. The legendary keyboardist’s son, Keith, became a graduate assistant for the LSU Tigers men’s team after a tenure as shooting guard for the squad.
Bruce Hornsby shared the following statement on social media regarding “Ecstatic”:
When my wife Kathy and I were AAU basketball parents in the early aughts, we loved the chants our fellow parents had created for the games. There were two: one was “You fouled, you did it, raise your hand, admit it,” and the other was “That’s right, you walked, you traveled and got caught.” We loved chanting these with the other parents, and at the time I told myself I wanted to write a song sometime with those chants. “Ecstatic” is that song, punctuated by my great old big sister in music, @bonnieraittofficial, and the amazing LSU Lady Tigers basketball team, courtesy of Hall of Fame @coachkimmulkey as another special aspect.
