Brittany Howard Shares ‘13th Century Metal’

Alabama Shakes frontwoman Brittany Howard shared “13th Century Metal,” the latest single from her upcoming debut solo album, Jaime. ATO Records will release Jaime on September 20.

The 11-track album was recorded in Los Angeles at engineer Shawn Everett’s studio. Howard recruited her Albama Shakes band mate Zac Cockrell to play bass along with keyboardist Robert Glasper and drummer . Along with the studio cut of “13th Century Metal,” Howard shared a live performance of the song directed by Danny Clinch and recorded in Nashville at Sound Emporium Studios. The session took place on July 30 and included Smith, Cockrell, Alabama Shakes’ keyboardist Paul Horton and background vocalists Karita Law, Shanay Johnson and Lloyd Buchanan (who also plays keyboards), as well as guitarists Alex Chakour and Brad Allen Williams.

Howard recently added several additional West Coast tour dates to her upcoming solo tour in support of Jaime. Check out the studio and live version of “13th Century Metal” below:
