Tanya Tucker Among Brandi Carlile’s Guests At The Ryman

Brandi Carlile kicked off her six-show residency at the renowned Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on Tuesday night. The singer-songwriter welcomed collaborator and country legend Tanya Tucker for two songs towards the end of the set.

Carlile kicked things off with the opening track, “Every Time I Hear That Song,” from her latest solo album By The Way, I Forgive You followed by “Raise Hell” from her 2012 LP Bear Creek. After more originals in “Harder To Forgive,” “The Story,” “The Eye,” “The Mother” and “Sugartooth,” Carlile got into some cover material with Joni Mitchell’s “Case Of You” and Elton John’s “Madman Across The Water.” Tucker joined Carlile after The Highwomen tune “If She Ever Leaves Me” for Carlile’s “That Wasn’t Me” and the Tucker/Carlile co-write “Bring My Flowers Now” from Tucker’s 2019 album While I’m Livin’. The collaborative tune saw Brandi accompanying Tanya on an upright piano. “The Joke” would bring the set to a close.

Brandi Carlile reemerged with Nashville singer-songwriter and opener Kim Richey to perform the latter’s “A Place Called Home” before Carlile continued the encore with “Hold Out Your Hand” and “Party Of One” to bring the evening to a close.
