Last night, boygenius debuted a new song entitled “Black Hole,” during their concert at MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston. The track is one of four making up the rest, a newly confirmed EP that will be released via Interscope Records on October 13.
A companion to boygenius’ debut album, the record, which was released earlier this year, the rest of the tracks on the rest besides “Black Hole” remain a mystery. The EP was co-produced by boygenius – Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus – and Tony Berg, Jake Finch, Ethan Gruska, Calvin Lauber, Collin Pastore and Marshall Vore.
“Black Hole,” begins with Baker singing while accompanied by a stark piano that leads into the full band kicking in. Bridgers and Dacus come in to sing the back half of the song while a mechanical drumline propels the song along.
“Our EP, the rest, is gonna come out on Friday the 13th,” Bridgers revealed after the new song’s debut.
