The Bogie Band featuring Joe Russo shared a new single, “The Witnesses.” The group is expected to release their debut album in early-2022 on the Royal Potato Family record label.

“The big thing that’s on my brain right now is The Bogie Band,” Russo recently told JamBase, “which is a new outfit that I got to play a show with before the pandemic hit and is really now coming out. We have a new record coming out early next year [and] we’re about to play the Newport Jazz Festival.”

Founded by saxophonist Stuart Bogie and drummer Joe Russo, the pair of musicians collaborate frequently, performing together with Pirata as well as Bogie regularly sitting in with Joe Russo’s Almost Dead. The 10-piece Bogie Band features members whose credits include JRAD, Antibalas, The Dap-Kings, Arcade Fire, David Byrne’s American Utopia, St. Vincent and The Budos Band.

“‘The Witnesses’ speaks to the urgency of the times in a musical language that laid the groundwork for The Bogie Band featuring Joe Russo,” Bogie stated. “The brass knocks you right and left, the saxophones scream, and the drums keeping you running for your life.”
