Texas-based blues-rock outfit Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears will release a new studio album entitled The Difference Between Me & You on September 7. Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears shared the official video for the LP’s first single “Culture Vulture.”

The band tapped Stuart Sikes (The White Stripes, Cat Power, Modest Mouse) to produce their fifth studio album which was recorded in their hometown of Austin. Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears’ new LP “delivers more of the familiar southern soul, gritty blues, and vintage rock n’ roll sound that Lewis has perfected throughout his career” and also “charts into new territory with a heavy stream of lyrical consciousness reflective of the current pop-culture and political mood” as per materials announcing the album.

“‘Culture Vulture’ is a song about those who consume everything from the masses to create their identity while thinking it’s their own culture and influence that is under attack from others they perceive as different,” frontman Joe Lewis told Afropunk about their new single. “They think some kind of urban revolution is needed to preserve what’s theirs, which allows the Powers that be to play off their fear mongering and watch the world burn.”
