The Black Crowes’ song “Remedy” is the subject of the latest episode of the One Song podcast. Hosts Diallo Riddle and Luxxury break down the track into its component stems, including frontman Chris Robinson’s isolated vocals.

The Black Crowes recorded “Remedy” for their second album, 1992’s The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion. The album was produced by George Drakoulias and engineered by Brendan O’Brien.

The song was written by Chris Robinson and his brother, The Black Crowes guitarist Rich Robinson. The Robinson brothers recorded “Remedy” with drummer Steve Gorman, guitarist Marc Ford, bassist Johnny Colt, and keyboardist Eddie Harsch.

Additional contributions came vocalists Barbara Mitchell and Taj Harmon, as well as Chris Trujillo who played congas.

Riddle – an “actor, writer, director, and sometimes DJ” – and “producer, DJ, songwriter, and musicologist” Luxxury discuss the various aspects of the recording of “Remedy” by examining each of its individual instrumental parts, as well as each of the vocal contributions.

The episode dives deep into the track while providing context surrounding its recording, release, influences and other noteworthy aspects. Listen to One Song on your prefered podcast platform and watch the “Remedy” episode in the video below:
