The Black Crowes appeared on Tuesday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. The group was joined by Blackberry Smoke guitarist Charlie Starr for a cover of The Temptations’ “Papa Was A Rollin’ Stone.”
“Papa Was A Rollin’ Stone” is one of six covers featured on 1972, an EP available today exclusively on Amazon Music before its full release this Friday, May 6. As the name implies, 1972 consists of new recordings of songs that were initially issued in 1972.
Charlie Starr has been filling in for The Black Crowes lead guitarist Isaiah Mitchell who is currently on tour with Earthless in Europe. Starr performed with the band at Stagecoach on Sunday and is expected to take part in a Black Crowes livestream concert tonight (Wednesday, May 4) at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT on Amazon Music’s Twitch channel.
Mike Birbiglia served as the guest host on last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live as Jimmy Kimmel tested positive for COVID-19. Watch The Black Crowes’ “Papa Was A Rollin’ Stone” cover from Tuesday’s Kimmel below:
