The Black Crowes co-founding members Chris Robinson and Rich Robinson brought the new lineup of the band to SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show on Monday morning to announce the band’s 2020 reunion tour.

The new Black Crowes lineup features Chris, Rich, Earthless guitarist Isaiah Mitchell of Earthless, former Tedeschi Trucks Band bassist Tim Lefebvre along with Once & Future Band members Joel Robinow on keyboards and drummer Raj Ojha. Host Howard Stern teased the appearance of surprise guests throughout the start of Monday’s The Howard Stern Show. The Black Crowes then came on the show for Chris & Rich to announce the tour and for performances of “Jealous Again,” “She Talks To Angels” and “Hard To Handle.”

Stern began by having Chris and Rich hold hands. Chris then confirmed both the tour and tonight’s show at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City. Next, Rich spoke about what each brother brings to the band. Howard went on to speak with Chris who addressed the negative comments he made about Rich during his 2017 appearance on the show. “I said some horrible things. I was in a negative place. But you know what? I’ve apologized to Rich about that,” Chris said.

“A lot of things have changed for me in the last two years,” Chris continued. “I was in a relationship that was failing. I was in a negative place and you make some big changes in your life.” He added he was dealing with depression and went on to discuss his work with the Chris Robinson Brotherhood and the “trajectories” each brother was on since they last performed together.

Rich noted that he was “fed up with the fighting” and added, “it was unhealthy.” He revealed a friend who both brothers kept in touch with connected them. “I was going out playing songs in my new band, playing Crowes songs because a lot of guys from the Crowes are in my band and no matter what it is there’s that half of me that was missing,” Rich said of The Magpie Salute. “Although it was great to play with those guys, and those guys are brilliant and it was cool and fun, but it’s almost like the more I dove into that it was obvious there was a glaring omission, which was my brother.”
