As we reported back on Tuesday, Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann will bring his Billy & The Kids ensemble to Denver’s Ogden Theatre on April 20, just days after he plays Red Rocks with the Disco Biscuits and Mickey Hart. Today, we’ve learned the theme for the show -Spring 1990 Revisited.

Billy & The Kids made their debut at Warren Haynes’ Christmas Jam in December featuring the core lineup of Kreutzmann, Reed Mathis, Aron Magner and Tom Hamilton. The quartet will be joined by Big Gigantic front man Dominic Lalli in a nod to the role of Branford Marsalis, who famously made his debut as a Grateful Dead guest at Nassau Coliseum during the band’s Spring 1990 Tour. Billy & The Kids’ performance is part of a celebration of 50 years of Grateful Dead and also celebrates 25 years since the Dead’s landmark Spring 1990 tour. Look for the evening’s songlist to focus mainly on selections from that tour.

Watch Billy & The Kids’ medley of “Chalk Dust Torture,” “Basically Frightened” and “Turn On Your Lovelight” from their Christmas Jam debut with special guest Col. Bruce Hampton helping out for the latter two tunes:

Tickets go on sale this Saturday at 10 a.m. MT via AXS.
