Stringhetti Western: Billy Strings Releases ‘Seven Weeks In County’ Studio Single & Video

There is just one week to go until Billy Strings‘ highly-anticipated new studio album, Highway Prayers, arrives on Friday, September 27 via Reprise Records. Out today is the record’s third advanced single, “Seven Weeks In County,” and a spaghetti Western-themed video for the record’s third advanced single.

Produced by Strings and Jon Brion (Fiona Apple, Mac Miller, Aimee Mann), Highway Prayers is the follow up to 2021’s Renewal and also comes on the heels of Strings’ Me/And/Dad 2022 collaborative album with his father, Terry Barber. The 20-track effort was recorded in Nashville and Los Angeles.

William Apostol co-wrote “Seven Weeks In County” with longtime collaborator Aaron Allen. While several of the songs on Renewal have yet to be performed live, “Seven Weeks In County” was among the originals trotted out by Strings and his band on New Year's Eve 2023 in New Orleans. Fourteen additional plays have followed.

The “Seven Weeks In County” video stars Billy Strings as a desperado who has been unfairly jailed. Strings’ bunkmate is played by legendary Asleep At The Wheel singer and guitarist Ray Benson. Strings has to deal with a crooked sheriff who attempts to hang him. Will our hero prevail?

Billy Strings hosts and headlines Renewal 2024 in Buena Vista, Colorado on Friday, September 27 and Saturday, September 28. A fall tour follows starting on October 4 with the first of two home state shows at Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan.
