Hear Billy Strings & Molly Tuttle Honor Nanci Griffith With Gorgeous ‘Listen To The Radio’ Cover
The song appears on the forthcoming tribute album More Than a Whisper: Celebrating the Music of Nanci Griffith.

Billy Strings and Molly Tuttle, two young musicians making big waves, joined forces to record a stirring cover of Nanci Griffith’s “Listen To The Radio.” The track is out today as the latest preview of the upcoming tribute album More Than a Whisper: Celebrating the Music of Nanci Griffith, arriving via Rounder Records on September 22.
The Texas-born, Grammy-winning Nanci Griffith was a talented singer, songwriter and guitarist who put out 18 studio albums over the course of her 45-year career. She was a regular on Letterman and Austin City Limits, placed an array of singles on Billboard’s country charts and wrote songs that became hits for such artists as Dolly Parton, Kathy Mattea and Suzy Bogguss. The trailblazing musician sadly died at the age of 68 in 2021.

More Than a Whisper: Celebrating the Music of Nanci Griffith features 14 of the groundbreaking musician’s most beloved songs covered by all-star friends, collaborators and fans. Emmylou Harris, John Prine & Kelsey Waldon, Steve Earle, Iris DeMent, Sarah Jarosz and Shawn Colvin are among those who contributed to the tribute album.
Billy Strings and Molly Tuttle have shared the stage a number of times including for a collaborative set at the Newport Folk Festival in 2019. Additionally, Strings added to Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway's “Dooley’s Farm,” a song featured on their Grammy-winning 2022 album Crooked Tree. The pair, former roommates in East Nashville, honored Griffith by putting their bluegrass imprint on “Listen To The Radio” from her 1989 album Storms.
