Guitarist Billy Strings sat in with Flesh and Blood Robot at the Michigan-based metal band’s first concert in 18 years. The reunion was held on Sunday, March 17 at The Pyramid Scheme in Grand Rapids.

Among the other bands on the lineup for last night’s celebration of Michigan metal music were From A Second Story Window, Nights Like These, Heartsick, Dust Biters and Strangers. Strings previewed his guest spot by posting pre-show rehearsal video clips to social media ahead of the show.

Strings also took to social media to share his thoughts on the experience. Still riding high from the exhilarating performance, Strings wrote:

“Last night was a complete celebration. It was so great to reunite with some of my best friends I haven’t seen in years!! So many homies from [Grand Rapids], Ionia, Muir and Lyons were in the house. [Super Nuclear] was there running lights!! It was a straight-up heavy metal reunion and a flashback to the mid ‘00s. Seeing [Heartsick], [See You Next Tuesday], [From A Second Story Window] all playing together after all this time was so nostalgic and refreshing. The energy in the room was fast and thick. Sweaty and poignant.

“I want to thank [Flesh & Blood Robot] for asking me to be a part of this show. I have loved this band since I was like 12 and to see them play after 18 years was just incredible, especially from where I was standing. They never skipped a beat. These fellas were my first “big brothers” in a band who I really looked up to, and who I saw and thought ‘I could do that someday’ … my neck hurts. But it was soo worth it. This was fucking AWESOME!!!!”
