Billy Strings played his song “Hide & Seek” for the 64th Grammy Awards telecast last night. While CBS only aired the beginning and end of the song, the guitarist shared the full version on his Instagram page.
Strings was joined by bandmates bassist Royal Masat, mandolinist Jarrod Walker and banjoist Billy Failing as well as frequent collaborator fiddler Alex Hargreaves for the “Hide & Seek” performance. The seven-minute version was filmed on a rooftop outside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, where Sunday’s ceremony took place.
“Hide & Seek” appears on Renewal, Billy Strings’ 2021 studio album. The LP was nominated for Best Bluegrass Album and Renewal single “Love And Regret” was up for the Best American Roots Performance award at last night’s ceremony. Billy contributed to Béla Fleck‘s My Bluegrass Heart which won Best Bluegrass Album, while Best American American Roots Performance was one of five Grammys taken home by Jon Batiste.
The guitarist might have come away from this year’s Grammys empty-handed, he was featured along with James Casey in Billy & The Kids' JamBase March Madness Live Covers Tournament championship-winning “Tangled Up In Blue.”
