Billy Strings is gearing up for the release of Home, his second full-length album on September 27 via Rounder Records. Strings previously released “Taking Water” and now has unveiled Home track “Away From The Mire.”

Strings recorded the 14-track LP with his band of banjoist Billy Failing, bassist Royal Masat and mandolinist Jarrod Walker. Glenn Brown produced Home, which was recorded at two studios in Nashville earlier this year. The quartet started work at Blackbird Studios’ Studio D before completing the follow-up to 2017’s Turmoil & Tinfoil at Zac Brown’s Southern Ground Nashville.

“I just put it all out there,” Strings said of his music to The Boot. “I say what I’m thinking, and it’s coming straight from my heart. It could be a personal thing, or it could be a very broad [thing]. Hopefully by keeping it honest and true, and actually putting my real feelings out, people will recognize that and appreciate it.” Strings went on to contemplate, “But that’s not why I do it. It’s therapeutic for me. Putting these songs out helps me to get over this shit.”
