‘Austin City Limits’ Announces Billy Strings Taping & Opens Ticket Giveaway

Billy Strings eagerly anticipated return to the stage after suffering a broken leg for a set of his own will take place two days earlier than previously expected. Austin City Limits will tape a performance by Billy Strings on Thursday, July 2 at ACL Live at The Moody Theater, with a giveaway for taping passes currently underway.

The bluegrass phenom’s show will air as part of the long-running live music television series upcoming Season 52, which begins this fall. Billy Strings made his Austin City Limits debut in 2021 during Season 47. Strings also was featured in the program’s Austin City Limits Celebrates 50 Years special in 2025.

Those interested in attending the taping can enter the giveaway here. Winners will be chosen at random and a photo ID will be required to pick up tickets. Entering multiple times does not improve your chances of winning and multiple entries will be deleted.

Billy Strings broke his leg in April while trying to pull off a skateboard trick during the encore break of his concert at John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, Virginia. Strings was forced to postpone and reschedule his remaining spring tour dates in the wake of the skateboarding mishap.

On May 30, Billy Strings made his first live appearance since breaking his leg by joining Primus for two songs at Meadow Brook Amphitheatre in Rochester Hills, Michigan. The Michigan native then sat in with Trey Anastasio in Grand Rapids on June 17.

The newly announced ACL taping comes two days before Billy Strings performs at Willie Nelson's 4th of July Picnic in Austin. Strings follows by kicking off his summer tour on July 14 in Roanoke, Virginia.
