Billy Strings Contributes Roger Alan Wade Cover To ‘Jackass: Best & Last’ Soundtrack

Billy Strings contributed a cover of Roger Alan Wade’s song “If You’re Gonna Be Dumb, You Gotta Be Tough,” for the soundtrack to Jackass: Best & Last.
Wade is the cousin of Jackass star Johnny Knoxville. Wade’s songs have appeared in numerous Jackass projects over the past two decades. “If You’re Gonna Be Dumb, You Gotta Be Tough” was written by Wade and performed by Smut Peddlers for the 2022 Jackass Shark Week 2.0 television special.
Billy Strings produced his version of “If You’re Gonna Be Dumb, You Gotta Be Tough,” which was recorded at Sound Emporium, Nashville. Strings’ bandmates, bassist Royal Masat and mandolinist Jarrod Walker, appear on the track, alongside Russ Carson on banjo, Jamie Dick on drums and Jerry Douglas on dobro.
Directed by Jeff Tremaine, Jackass: Best and Last lands in the theatres nationwide on June 26. Along with Knoxville, the fifth and final feature film in the long-running series stars Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Wee Man, Danger Ehren, Preston Lacy, Dave England and others.
