Billy Joel took the 2024 Grammy Awards stage last night to perform his first new song since 2007, “Turn The Lights Back On,” along with his classic “You May Be Right.” The Grammy appearance marked Joel’s first in 22 years.
The Piano Man last played the Grammys with Tony Bennett in 2002, where the Long Island legends teamed for Joel’s “New York State of Mind.” Five years later, Joel released “All My Life” and “Christmas In Fallujah,” his last new music until sharing “Turn the Lights Back On” last week.

Joel, a five-time Grammy-winner, live debuted “Turn the Lights Back On” — which he co-wrote with Freddy Wexler, Arthur Bacon and Wayne Hector — last night at the Grammy Awards where he was joined by Icelandic cellist Laufey. He also delivered his 1980 Glass Houses hit “You May Be Right.”
