Big Something recently released ‘Machines (Unplugged)’ featuring guitarist and frontman Nick MacDaniels in a solo acoustic format. The song originally appears on the North Carolina-based jam rock sextet’s 2020 album, Escape.
Escape arrived on October 9 of last year. The band delivered a number of livestream concerts ahead of and after the album’s release along with sharing singles “Heavy” and “Timebomb.”

The Escape track “Machines” features words by Big Something’s late lyricist Paul Interdonato. MacDaniels spoke about reimagining the song in an acoustic format in a statement:
“I spent a lot of time during the pandemic playing an acoustic guitar that was gifted to me by a good friend and I just kind of fell in love with it. Something about playing these songs in their most raw form like this really put me back in touch with the original inspiration behind the lyrics when they were first written.”
“This is actually Andy Frasco’s fault,” MacDaniels added. “He asked me to record an acoustic version of ‘Machines’ for his podcast and now we’re recording an entire ‘unplugged’ album. Thanks Andy.”
