Lionel Richie Postpones Shows With Earth, Wind & Fire After Heart Procedure

The three remaining 2026 concerts on Lionel Richie's Sing A Song All Night Long Tour with Earth, Wind & Fire have been postponed after Richie underwent a heart procedure to treat atrial fibrillation. The affected dates were scheduled for Saturday, September 26 at Chase Center in San Francisco; Wednesday, September 30 at United Center in Chicago and Friday, October 2 at Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio.

TMZ first reported that Richie had been hospitalized with atrial fibrillation, commonly known as AFib. The 77-year-old musician’s representative subsequently confirmed the procedure in a statement shared with Billboard.

“The doctor said everything went perfectly. Lionel is doing great but will take some time off and will be back on stage soon,” Richie’s representative stated.

Notices issued by all three venues characterize the concerts as postponed. Information regarding replacement dates will be announced, while tickets will be honored when the shows are rescheduled.

The Chicago and Columbus concerts were originally scheduled for June 26 and 27, respectively. Richie postponed both dates under doctors’ advice after becoming dizzy and cutting the tour opener in St. Paul, Minnesota short. He returned to the stage with Earth, Wind & Fire on June 30 in Pittsburgh.

The San Francisco concert was initially slated for August 6 but was postponed shortly before showtime due to a medical emergency involving Earth, Wind & Fire drummer John Paris. It was subsequently rescheduled for September 26.

Richie was also hospitalized following an August 29 concert in St. Louis. TMZ reported that doctors conducted cardiac testing during the three-day hospital stay. He was released on September 2.

Richie is currently scheduled to return to the stage on October 14 in Las Vegas, where he will resume his King of Hearts residency. Earth, Wind & Fire’s next scheduled performance is October 16 at The Venetian Theatre, where the band will resume its Las Vegas residency.
