Béla Fleck & Abigail Washburn Perform For ‘Jazz Night In America’

Béla Fleck & Abigail Washburn performed an “Alone Together Duet” for NPR Music’s Jazz Night In America series. The married couple offered an arrangement of the traditional bluegrass tune, “My Home’s Across the Blue Ridge Mountains.”

Recorded at their home in Nashville, Fleck played a traditional five-string banjo, while Washburn held down a quite large bass banjo. The performance marked one year since NPR launched the “Alone Together Duets” video series in response to the quarantining caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Washburn’s powerful lead vocal gives the well-worn bluegrass song a cool, jazzy, bluesy, feel that’s aided by Fleck’s slide playing midway into the performance. Watch “My Home’s Across The Blue Ridge Mountains” by Béla Fleck and Abigail Washburn below:
