Sofar Sounds is a global community of music lovers creating space where music matters. Integrated with JamBase’s Concert listings, Sofar shows transform everyday spaces – from living rooms and rooftops, to boutiques and museums – into captivating venues for secret, live shows, creating inclusive experiences that bring people closer together.
Past Sofar events have featured many artists before they became widely popular with fans around the globe. When you attend a Sofar Sounds concert, you never know if you’ll discover the next big thing – or a new artist to fall in love with. Several past Sofar events have seen performances by artists familiar to JamBase visitors, including Dawes, Leon Bridges and Tank And The Bangas, all while on the rise to headliner status.
Founded in London in 2009, Sofar invites guests to discover new artists, places, and people, whether at home or abroad, in 400 cities around the world. Sofar Sounds creates space where music matters, through intimate concerts, digital content, and a range of artist services, from VIP experiences to direct-to-fan data capture.
Sofar is an artist-first company that connects artists and audiences through the experience of live music. Artists keep 100% of sales of merchandise at all Sofar Sounds events.
Los Angeles-based Dawes, who recently released their latest album Misadventures Of Doomscroller, has performed two Sofar concerts. Both took place in London between 2015 and 2016. The footage below captures the band performing “Somewhere Along The Way” at their London Sofar event held at iMakr Store on November 5, 2016.
Shows take place in unexpected spaces, in rooms full of potential new fans, and can be added to touring schedules without the need for promotion by the artists. Sofar fills the spaces with an engaged, listening, and an attentive audience ready to discover new music.
Leon Bridges held an intimate hometown Sofar event on June 21, 2014. The singer-songwriter from Fort Worth, Texas put out his critically acclaimed album, Gold Diggers Sound in 2021. Here he is gracing the Sofar Sounds: Dallas/Fort Worth stage with “Lisa Sawyer”:
Musicians use Sofar to play shows in their hometowns as well as when touring across regions and countries. Sofar believes local music gives every city a soul and is core to the identity of the city. As smaller music venues struggle to create sustainable businesses, the Sofar community has created new spaces where these artists can be heard.
New Orleans-based Tank And The Bangas have held multiple Sofar events both in their hometown and in other cities including New York, San Francisco and Chicago. The NPR Tiny Desk Contest winners released their latest studio album, the well-received Red Balloon, earlier this year.
