Beck teamed up with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) for a visual reimagining of his 2019 album, Hyperspace. The project, dubbed Hyperspace: A.I. Exploration, utilizes artificial intelligence to create spacey visuals to go along with the LP’s 11 tracks as well as two bonus cuts.

Artificial intelligence architects OSK helmed the project using a trio of tools in the A.I. arsenal including computer vision, machine learning and Generative Adversarial neural Networks (GAN) to scan NASA’s extensive archives. The A.I. trained on hundreds of thousands of images, videos and data points from the space agency’s six decades of exploration to create the visuals for the album, including visualizers for two bonus tracks: “I Am The Cosmos (42420)” and “Dark Places (Soundscape)” featuring NASA data of stars and black holes. The tracks will land on an upcoming limited edition vinyl LP release of Hyperspace due out on December 4.

“I think each song is kind of a different way that different people ‘hyperspace,” Beck said in a statement. “We escape from the reality that we’re all dealing with.”
