On October 12, a group of musicians who reside in Los Angeles will come together at the city’s Orpheum Theatre for a one-time concert event dubbed “Echo In The Canyon” to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the birth of the Southern California folk-rock scene. Beck, Fiona Apple, Jakob Dylan, Cat Power, Regina Spektor and Jade (formerly of the Magnetic Zeroes) have been confirmed to perform at the concert.

Organizers peg the birth of the SoCal folk-rock scene to the release of The Byrds’ 1965 debut album Mr. Tambourine Man. The concert will feature the music of The Byrds, The Beach Boys, Buffalo Springfield, The Mamas and the Papas, Love, The Association and others. Tickets for the concert go on sale this Friday, October 2 at 10 a.m. PT.

A number of the performers taking part in the concert and others also lent their talents to a companion studio recording set for an early 2016 release. Listen to Cat Power and Jakob Dylan’s cover of the Turtles’ “You Showed Me” from the LP which premiered at Pitchfork earlier today:
