Next year the BBC will premiere a new documentary film about the late iconic musician David Bowie. Expected to air in January, David Bowie: The Last Five Years chronicles the final days of the legendary performer.
Produced and directed by Francis Whately, the new documentary serves as a follow-up to his 2013 BBC Two film David Bowie: Five Years. Like the prior movie, the companion sequel features new and rare archival video footage, previously unheard audio interviews and “the original vocal which Bowie recorded for “Lazarus,” his last release before his death, which has never been heard before.”
Three projects are the central focus of David Bowie: The Last Five Years, Bowie’s LP’s The Next Day and Blackstar and his play Lazarus. Additionally, BBC Four will air Bowie At The BBC which will feature highlights from throughout Bowie’s career. BBC Radio also has a number of tributes planned for next January, the month in which Bowie would have turned 70.
