BAT FOR LASHES: U.S. SHOWS, “DANIEL” SINGLE, SXSW LISTENING PARTY

Bat for Lashes
Brighton, England’s Bat for Lashes will be playing her first American live shows since 2007 this spring. With a string of dates hitting both coasts, Bat for Lashes (a.k.a. Natasha Khan) will be premiering tons of new material from her brilliant forthcoming sophomore album Two Suns, set for release on Astralwerks on April 7, 2009. These dates will see Natasha assembling an entirely new band for a completely different live experience to that of her last tour for her debut Fur and Gold. They’re also Bat for Lashes’ first shows since opening for Radiohead in the UK/Europe over the summer of 2008.

Bat for Lashes has also just released Two Suns‘ first single, “Daniel,” which is available via all digital service providers now. The video for the song, which is another wildly imaginative visual much like previous Bat for Lashes videos, is set to debut this Friday, March 13, on MySpace.

With her new album Two Suns, Bat for Lashes has given 2009 what is sure to be one of its most incredible records. A full album listening party will be happening in Austin, TX at this year’s SXSW Festival on Friday, March 20 at the Cedar Street Courtyard in conjunction with Filter Magazine. Starting at noon, the listening party will include free BBQ and a very special first chance to hear Two Suns.

Using magical realism imagery, Two Suns is an album that explores dualities on a number of levels, detailing two lovers, two planets, two moons, two sides of a personality and more. Musically, it’s just as dynamic, featuring guest turns from Brooklyn psychrockers Yeasayer and the legendary Scott Walker. Co-produced by Natasha and David Kosten, Two Suns mixes autoharps with intense electronics, complex drum rhythms with lush keyboards and strings. Khan herself worked the majority of the musical magic, while illuminating every song from the inside out with her voice, sounding bolder, fuller and more impressive than ever before.
