‘Austin City Limits’ Shares Footage Of The Allman Brothers Band Performing In 1995

Following last week’s death of Gregg Allman at the age of 69, live concert television program Austin City Limits paid tribute to the co-founding member of The Allman Brothers Band with a lengthy post detailing his storied career. The long-running PBS program also shared an official video highlight of The Allman Brothers Band’s 1996 appearance on ACL.

Gregg played guitar and keys alongside guitarists Dickey Betts and Warren Haynes, drummers Jaimoe and Butch Trucks, bassist Allen Woody and percussionist Marc Quiñones during the November 1, 1995 taping. The performance originally aired in 1996 as part of the 21st ACL season. Written by Gregg and Robert Kim Payne, the band’s classic “Midnight Rider” was part of the set that evening in Austin, watch officially shared footage below:
